Youth Minister

FLSA: Full-Time Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving upon the Youth Ministry program at St. Joseph parish, in accordance with the framework outlines in the USCCB document ‘Renewing the Vision’.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Pastor or Director of Faith Formation

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for all youth ministry activities for 6th – 12th grade
• Coordinate Middle School Youth Group (MSYG)
– Recruit, train and oversee adult volunteer catechists
– Recruit, train and oversee high school peer ministers, who assist in leading MSYG
– Develop curriculum, as needed, and ensure program is meeting all Archdiocesan and national standards for each grade level.
• Coordinate High School Youth Group (HSYG)
– Recruit, train and oversee adult volunteer catechists
– Develop curriculum, as needed, and ensure program is meeting all Archdiocesan and national standards for each grade level.
– Recruit and schedule volunteers for Sunday dinners after mass and before HSYG.
• Liaison with ‘The Works’ High School group
• Coordinate Archdiocesan and larger events including, but not limited to:
– Steubenville of the Rockies high school conference
– Mountain Madness middle school conference
– Summer Mission Trips, currently 2 per summer
• Plan, advertise, and run various other activities for teens at St. Joseph, including spiritual, social, community building, prayer, retreats, and service.
• Have a presence in St Joseph Catholic School, specifically within the middle school
• Work closely with the Director of Faith Formation to ensure continuity between religious education programs for all grades
• Oversee the Youth Ministry budget
• Regularly communicate with parents and students about upcoming activities and events
• Attend all staff meetings, prayers days, in-service, and Archdiocesan meetings/trainings as required
• Other duties as requested and needed

REQUIREMENTS:
• A love of the Catholic Faith and a desire to lead young people deeper into their Faith
• BA in Theology or related field, or relevant experience within the field
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights & weekends
• Completion of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment training and a background check
• Must have good interpersonal skills and familiarity with the Church as an organization
• Must work effectively with and collaborate well with other staff – team player
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in computer applications using Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Suites, etc.
