Pilgrimage Series Talks

A Living Sacrifice: The Holy Mass & Our Christian Life – Dr. Ben Akers
Rescheduled for April 18 |  Most Precious Blood Catholic Parish, Denver
6:30 pm Lecture in the Parish Hall,
7:30 pm Eucharistic Adoration in the Church

In the prayers of the Holy Mass, the priest refers to the Eucharist as a “holy and living sacrifice” while he also prays that we “may truly become a living sacrifice in Christ”. This reflection will explore the sacrificial nature of the Mass and how we participate in it through our baptismal priesthood.

Dr. Ben Akers is the Chief Content Officer at the Augustine Institute which serves the formation of Catholics through academic and parish programs. He oversees content on FORMED, the always free Amen: Catholic prayer and meditation app, and the Word of Life K-8 Curriculum Project for parishes and schools. He previously served as the Director of the Denver Catholic Biblical School and Catechetical School at the Archdiocese. He was a FOCUS missionary at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado (Boulder). He and his wife and five children are parishioners at St. Vincent de Paul parish in Denver.

Personal Relationship: How our Catholic faith Is founded on a personal relationship with a living Christ – Bishop Jorge Rodriguez
April 19 | St. Clare’s – Edwards, CO
6 pm Lecture in the Parish Hall,
7 pm Eucharistic Adoration

This talk will be in Spanish.
Join Bishop Rodriguez at St. Clare’s in Edwards Friday, April 19 in Edwards, CO! He will talk about how our Catholic faith is founded on a personal relationship with a living Christ. After his resurrection, the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven. But before leaving, he wanted to leave us his sacramental presence: the Eucharist. In the mystery of the Blessed Sacrament Jesus, present and alive, continues to accompany us on life’s journey.

This is how the two disciples of Emmaus experienced it, and this is how the church has experienced and lived it for more than 2000 years. It is important that with faith we learn to recognize, feel, enjoy, receive and adore the presence of Jesus among us. Our Hispanic community has a very beautiful and strong Eucharistic faith. Through Sacred Scripture and the Tradition of the Church, let us remember the Catholic doctrine of the real presence of Jesus under the species of bread and wine, which give us a living Jesus as food for our journey and a divine companion throughout life.
