The July 15 Tax Day extension is fast approaching, but your Archdiocese has you covered.

Centro San Juan Diego, one of the more than 40 ministries supported by the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal, annually offers tax preparation services and resources, if you are a qualifying low-income family or individual. Centro provides numerous links to help sites in both English and Spanish.

“Even though we had to close the Tax Aide program prematurely this year, we continued to provide our Spanish-speaking community with valuable resources to assist the with the online filing process,” said Lucy Morroni, Centro San Juan Diego operations manager.

Language barriers and unfamiliarity with the many nuances of tax preparation make people very nervous to file their taxes online, Morroni said.

“Despite the Tax Aide program closure, I’m grateful that the community continued to reach out to Centro as a trusted resource for guidance,” she said.

Prior to the COVID-19 shutdown, Centro’s Tax Aide program submitted 270 federal and state tax returns, with refunds totaling $496,087 in time for the previous tax deadline.

Tax form assistance is just one of the many services provided by Centro. This Archdiocese ministry serves our community with FREE advice and explanation of legal issues facing immigrants such as home or rent matters, credit questions, and understanding other government law and policies.

Thank you for your ongoing support to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal that makes programs like this possible.
