“It’s really beautiful, because just as those children have a childlike faith, so do their parents...”

Donna Engle

Just as Jesus said we must have childlike faith to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, sometimes children are who lead us to a deeper relationship with Christ.

Donna Engle, office of catechesis registrar at St. Thomas More shared with me that while most children who attend their annual Vacation Bible School are Catholic, occasionally they’ve had people from the greater community sign their children up for the week.

The experience of these children has led to some beautiful, unexpected conversions.

“It’s really beautiful, because just as those children have a childlike faith, so do their parents,” Donna explained, “and since the vocabulary we use to express the teaching of the faith is for children, those children then explain what they’ve learned each day to their parents.”

She continued, “Then they start to have conversations with me and the other volunteers, and it’s led to some parents deciding they want to go through Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) themselves,” she continued.

By donating to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal, your generous support makes these moments possible. By empowering our parishes to evangelize and serve, you are directly contributing to these life-changing conversions. We are deeply grateful for your partnership in this mission, and I hope to continue sharing stories like this with you.

In Christ,

Marie
