Archdiocese of Denver Notice Regarding Octavio Beal
The Archdiocese of Denver has learned that Octavio Beal is presenting himself as a bishop and offering sacraments and blessings, particularly within the Hispanic community.
Archdiocesan records show that Mr. Beal was ordained a Catholic priest in Denver on June 8, 1991. He resigned from active priestly ministry, and his faculties were removed on Jan. 31, 1995. Records also note that he was purportedly ordained a bishop of the Old Catholic Church on Dec. 5, 2015. He was laicized by the Roman Catholic Church on Aug. 1, 2017.
Mr. Beal is not a bishop or cleric of the Roman Catholic Church and is not authorized to exercise ministry within the Archdiocese of Denver. The Old Catholic Church with which he claims to be affiliated is not in communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
The faithful should not participate in liturgies, sacraments or other religious activities offered by Mr. Beal. Anyone who has received or attempted to receive a sacrament from Mr. Beal and has questions about its validity should contact their Catholic pastor for guidance.
It should also be noted that the sacraments are gifts of God’s grace and are not bought or sold. While customary offerings may sometimes be accepted, the Catholic Church does not charge for the administration of the sacraments, and no one should be denied a sacrament because of an inability to make an offering.

Aviso de la Arquidiócesis de Denver sobre Octavio Beal
La Arquidiócesis de Denver ha tenido conocimiento de que Octavio Beal se está presentando como obispo y ofreciendo sacramentos y bendiciones, particularmente dentro de la comunidad hispana.
Los registros de la arquidiócesis muestran que el Sr. Beal fue ordenado sacerdote católico en Denver el 8 de junio de 1991. Renunció al ministerio sacerdotal activo y sus facultades fueron retiradas el 31 de enero de 1995. Los registros también señalan que presuntamente fue ordenado obispo de la Iglesia Vieja Católica el 5 de diciembre de 2015. Fue reducido al estado laical por Iglesia católica el 1 de agosto de 2017.
El Sr. Beal no es obispo ni clérigo de la Iglesia católica y no está autorizado para ejercer el ministerio dentro de la Arquidiócesis de Denver. La Iglesia Vieja Católica con la que afirma estar afiliado no está en comunión con la Iglesia católica romana.
Los fieles no deben participara en liturgias, sacramentos u otras actividades religiosas ofrecidas por el Sr. Beal. Quienes hayan recibido o intentado recibir un sacramento de manos del Sr. Beal y tengan dudas sobre su validez deben comunicarse con su párroco para recibir orientación.
También es importante recordar que los sacramentos son dones de la gracia de Dios y no se compran ni se venden. Aunque en algunas ocasiones pueden aceptarse ofrendas voluntarias, la Iglesia católica no cobra por la administración de los sacramentos, y a nadie se le debe negar un sacramento por no poder hacer una ofrenda.
