Archdiocese of Denver Statement on Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV) Suppression

The Archdiocese of Denver recognizes the faith, dedication, and spiritual contributions of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV) community which has been a source of devotion and service for so many over the years within the Archdiocese. Certainly, there were very serious problems with the founder and some of the members of the community which were addressed by the Holy See. The Archdiocese recognizes the pain of those who, in the past and in other locations, have suffered within the movement. The Vatican’s decision to suppress the movement, which we accept, has been difficult for those who found a spiritual home within it, and who carried out many spiritual and corporal works of mercy.

In this time of transition, it is our priority to ensure that the clergy and faithful of Holy Name Parish continue to be spiritually supported and integrated within the life of the local Church. We want to assure the faithful of the Archdiocese that their corporal and spiritual works of mercy will continue, as they have borne great fruit, especially in the lives of the homeless.

We acknowledge such shifts are not always easy and assure you of our prayers and support. The Church is a home for all, and we remain committed to walking with each of you in faith, hope, and charity keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.
