“Leaning back against Jesus’ chest.” – John 13:25

Let’s go to Encounter the Lord! We invite your youth to experience a personal Encounter with Jesus and with other youth of the Archdiocese of Denver. Inspired by the Gospel words, “Leaning back against Jesus’ chest” (John 13:25), we will discover the Father’s invitation to draw near with confidence to the heart of His Son—a place where we find love, rest, and the certainty that we are deeply loved.

We will be joined by Father Filiberto Cortez from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who will share how God the Father calls us to remain close to Jesus and to rest in His heart, in order to renew our faith and strengthen our relationship with Him.

Come and encounter the Lord! We invite your youth to experience this encounter with Jesus and with other young people of the Archdiocese of Denver. Our Teen Encuentro is an annual retreat for teens ages 12-17 hosted by Pastoral Juvenil. There are two ways to register – as a parish youth group or individually (for youth who are not part of a parish youth group). With this event, Pastoral Juvenil seeks to support parish youth group leaders and parents in the evangelization of their teenagers and to provide a space for young people to have an encounter with God.

Pastoral Juvenil’s mission is to support pastors and youth group leaders in the ministry they do with young teens in their parishes in order to bring young people to an encounter with the Living God, to enter into a lifelong relationship with Him, and to foster leadership in them so that, as young people, they can share God’s love with other young people.

P. Filiberto Cortez

Father Filiberto Cortez, affectionately known as “Fr. Fili,” is a diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was ordained a priest on August 8, 2020, and has served as administrator of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish since July 1, 2026.
His ministry is marked by a deep love for Christ and a concrete commitment to those most in need. In addition to his parish responsibilities, Father Fili devotes much of his time to serving the homeless on Skid Row, visiting men and women in prison, accompanying immigrant families in their search for housing and employment, and participating in missions at orphanages in Latin America.
Father Fili also leads spiritual retreats for religious communities and offers spiritual direction to lay consecrated people, encouraging them to deepen their relationship with the Lord and to live out their vocation faithfully.
With a warm, joyful style deeply rooted in the Gospel, Father Fili invites young people and families to discover the love of Christ and to find rest in his heart.
