A marriage assessment is a structured tool use in marriage preparation to help engaged couples reflect on their relationship. It usually involves a questionnaire that explores areas such as communication, finances, family life, and faith. The purpose is not to pass or fail, but to encourage honest conversation and to identify strengths and potential challenges. after completing the assessment, the couple meets with a priest, deacon, or mentor couple to review the results, deepen their understanding, and better prepare for a lifelong, sacramental marriage. In this way, the marriage assessment becomes not simply a step in marriage preparation process, but a meaningful opportunity to grow together in love, honesty, and commitment.
There are different types of marriage assessments. The ones commonly used within the Archdiocese of Denver are: PREPARE/ENRICH, FOCCUS Inc., and Fully Engaged.
